Yesterday, while running into ballet class, Lucy slipped and fell on the sidewalk out front and ended up with a bloody patch the size of a quarter on one leg. I'm not sure if it was because of the sheer pain or if was more the wet/bloody tights, but apparently participation in ballet class after that was out of the question. I got her all cleaned up, band-aided, and tried convincing her to give it a shot for a few minutes... but to no avail.
We had to stop at Toys R Us to pick up something for a friend's birthday party after our attempt at ballet class. I had tried to get Lucy a scooter for Christmas and had one at home, halfway assembled on Christmas Eve when I realized it was missing an important piece. By the time I took it back to the store after Christmas, the scooter selection was severely picked over, so I decided to put it on the back burner for a while. Yesterday I needed a good incentive to get Lucy up and walking normally again, and it turns out that test-driving scooters at Toys R Us does the trick (for a while.)
Once we got home, she got the hang of it pretty easily. And she even sorta likes the helmet. I jokingly asked her if she wants to wear it everyday and she said yes. On second thought maybe I should have offered her knee pads everyday.
