Not that I didn't have a great time at Lucy's backyard birthday party last year, but I wanted something a little more low-maintenance for this year. Something where I wouldn't have to clean the house before, during, and after the party. So this year we outsourced. We actually booked this place, Pump It Up, sight unseen, purely on the recommendations of friends and the info on their website-- and it turned out to be a great gamble. Everyone (including the adults!) bounced their brains out and had a great time!
Lucy pretty much got the concept that her real birthday was last weekend, but that since we were at the beach, we would have a party with friends when we got back. At first she thought everyone was coming to our house (again), so we tried to explain the concept of Pump It Up to her... "uhh... its a giant place full of moonbounces." (*quizzical look*) "It's a place where you can jump a lot. It's a jumpy-jumpy place." (*nods approvingly*) Phew!
